about

“Madre Tierra” (Mother Earth), is a song by Razteria, a tribute to the magnificence of the World, sung in Spanish with a few words in Quechua, an indigenous language spoken throughout South America. Razteria was inspired by the complex, nuanced lyrics and theme of the anthemic song “Latinoamerica” (Calle 13), written by René Perez Joglar now known as Residente together with Eduardo Cabra and Rafael Ignacio Aracaute. Instead of speaking about Latin America, its people and environment, the song’s imagery is focused on the natural world as a whole. Thank you to my family and friends for helping me add a few words in Quechua to my song Madre Tierra, Pachamama en Quechua.

lyrics

VERSO 1
CORO
soy el arco iris miles de colores
soy tus emociones tu alegría y tus dolores
VERSO 2
VERSE 1
Yesterday I was - what they burned
all the ashes - of what they cremated
I am the extinct being that you never saw
my guts are made of water feeding everything that exists
I am the raw material input
The bread and coffee of your breakfast
a tropical rain in the highlands
the 100 years of solitude of the old man
CHORUS
I am the rainbow thousands of colors
I am your emotions, your joy and your pain
VERSE 2 / VERSE 2
I am the full moon waning
with bright - sunrises
I am the slow germination of a seed
the wisdom of a native plant
the rarest flowers that have ever been seen
A fossilized footprint of an animal
the hunger to live without regrets
the black hole - from which nothing escapes
BRIDGE / BRIDGE
You have everything - everything inside
The whole world - the universe
You are everything - also time
The moment - is eternal
VERSE 3
I am the shell of a snail
I'm a tired worker bee that keeps on working
I am gravity itself and, under the trampling of children, the dust that spins
I am the instinct of schism and the rupture needed for everything to evolve
I am mother earth
a blind expert tightrope walker

soy el arco iris miles de colores
soy tus emociones tu alegría y tus dolores
